The Glock 17 Gen5 9mm is the latest update to the popular law enforcement duty and concealed carry favorite. The first most notable difference is the loss of the finger grooves on the front of the frame which is a welcome change for most shooters, as the previous generations it was hit or miss if your hand fit the frame or not. With the Gen4, Glock introduced a reversible magazine release to aid left handed shooters and now with the Gen5 they have gone even further with the ambidextrous slide stop lever. Glock has turned away from its traditional polygonal rifling with the Gen5 17 9mm to unveil their latest barel and rifling design in their marksman barrels which greatly increases the base accuracy of Glock pistols. Another update to the Glock Gen5 is a redesigned trigger mechanism that eliminates alot of the "stack" felt in older Glock pistols and overall is a smoother trigger pull for less chance of a shooter related error on target. The magwell on the Glock Gen5 17 9mm is flared slightly for faster reloads and a redesigned magazine baseplate lets shooters strip the magazine in the event it doesn't drop free.
